Potato Bread

Yesterday I made grapefruit marmalade which really does taste very good…. Sadly the village show, for which it was intended, has been cancelled. I also made bread which bread tastes good – slightly sour, and soft. This is what I did:

Mix and then knead until the dough is somewhat resistant

4 ozs mashed potato
6 ozs mixed grain strong flour, 6 ozs strong white flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 dessertspoon golden syrup
1 tablespoon oil
2 teaspoons easy bake dried yeast
1 large cup liquid (about 9 fluid ozs) – I used warm water, milk, and yoghurt

The dough is left to rise to double height; then it is kneaded down again, rolled into a loaf shape and put in a bread tin to rise again. When double in height it was baked at 190C for c.50 minutes
